Should I get vaccinated

Today, I asked the above question in a Messianic Christians Whatsapp chat group. I share many of the members' ideas in this group, especially in American politics, to be a Torah observant follower of the Messiah among others.

Members of this Whatsapp group have raised many pertinent points as to why one should not be vaccinated. I share many of their points. In Malaysia, the mortality rate from Covid-19 last year was below 4%. Most patients contracted with Covid-19 recovered without vaccinated. Recent news surrounding the deaths of those linked to the Pfizer/BioNTec Covid-19 vaccines fizzles out any hope that the vaccine is a silver bullet to end the pandemic.

The Malaysia government is pushing for herd immunity. The more people get vaccinated the better the nation is protected against the virus. Based on the National Covid-19 Immunization Plan about 23 million (70%) of the nation's population will be vaccinated within a 6 months period. The Plan has 3 phases, frontliners, high-risk groups and the general public will be vaccinated according to priority.

The Government plans to use the MySejatera app to monitor the progress of the National Covid-19 Immunization Plan. It is said the vaccination is voluntary on the part of the population. However, the Government also plans to launch a digital immunisation passport. Those that do not carry this passport may be restricted to some basic public services.

I was asked by a member of the Whatsapp group if I will get the jab. I reply I'm praying about it. The advancement of medicine is part of God's plan to restore our infirmities. Whether we survive this pandemic is based on God's steadfast love and not the vaccines. If our access to basic public services is restricted by the Government due to our refusal to take the jab than I will volunteer myself to be immunised. At the same time, I will advocate for a change of Government policy on the digital immunisation passport which in my opinion is against human rights if it is implemented.
